house of darkness

My friend and collegue Jon(zero) Martin is currently looking for a place to buy, and one day I found an evil/ideal property for him. A great modern mansion deep inside the forrests of “Åmot”, a few kilometers outside of the city of Skien.

So when it was viewing most of the onezero went along to be supportive of Jon, and I took some photos. We have no idea what happend in that house, but our bet is that it was a dark disturbing incident there some time ago, and that the place has stood empty for years. The broker said that the house was empty due to the previous owner had moved into a home, but that seems unlikely. Most of the forrest surrounding the house was also burnt down, and inside the house we found several clear bloodsplatters on the walls.

Get ready for some darkness.

Apokalypsen

pushwagner1

The last couple of years it`s been alot of comotion regarding the Norwegian artist “Pushwagner” in the media. From what I`d gathered he was an artist in the 70s, and got addicted to drugs. Then he sold/signed his complete collection of works; paintings, sketches, lithographys, prints, sketchbooks to a slick lawyer/agent-type. The agent has no doubt just waited for Pushwagner to OD – so he could sell the works for top dollar.

But somehow Pushwagner managed to stop taking drugs long enough to realize that he had been “tricked”/outmanouvered and actually managed to get his life somewhat together again.. in an age that most people retire, he retired from being a junkie – after probably 30 years of being an addict.

And right now he`s in the process of getting the rights to his heritage back, in the courtroom. It`s expected that he`ll win the case pretty soon (according to a documentary I just saw on NRK1 (norwegian TV)).

So okay, perhaps I did know a thing or two about this man before… but what I learned just now is that his work is incredible and right up my alley. Especially a series of 7 paintings that were called “apokalypsen” looks just amazing. Huge works, insane detail work (probably not possible to do that kind of details without being intoxicated of some sort). Below is some pictures I found on the net just now, and the darkest ones is from “apokalypsen” I believe.

A lot of the imagery is also available in the book “soft city”, that I`m ordering right now. RIGHT now.

I want a prefab shack in my garden

this would look great in my garden.

I really really wish I had more available time on my hands. Then I`d order a prefab structure from somewhere and start building in my yard. I`ve been looking alot into Rocio Romeros LV Series for the past year, and actually almost ordered one of them before our norwegian currency (Norwegian Krones – NOK) collapsed last year. I guess that`s a good thing anyway, since I really don`t have time for a project like that right now.

But today I accidentally surfed by this all new prefab dream from ecospace in the UK. I especially like the big monopitched roof version… not too expensive either, considering it`s a complete package from what I`ve gathered.

If you`re into prefab architecture, you should check it out.

Painted walls – laid floor

5. October 2008

I`ve painted the walls and laid the new oak floor in the kitchen. It`s not 100% alike the one in the livingroom (that was laid 20 years ago) – but pretty damn close. The livingroom has also been cleaned up in order to make room for bathtub, toilet, shower cabinet and other stuff – that hopefully is on it`s way right now.

Hopefully only 3-4 weeks left until pretty much everything is up and running.

Renovation chaos

3. October 2008

A few steps forward and a few back. The tiles in the bathroom is in place, so is the insanely huge mirror I`ve put in there. other than that it`s been a bit of chaos, lots of leaks in the basement because of the unfinished plumbing there. A few poweroutages because of unfinished electrical wireing. And a few compromises regarding design and details.

Renovation – at the turningpoint between tearing things down and building them back up

11. September

since last we`ve gotten a new concrete floor, new sheetrock ceiling, and some beams up that hopefully will be actual walls at some point.

After the floor was laid down my father informed me that it will take 6 weeks until it`s dry. that`s 6 additional weeks without bathroom, kitchen or… well.. a home.

My personal hygiene has degenerated to the level that I don`t care when I`m dirty anymore. Showering a couple of times a week seems to be enough right now. Atleast for me, not sure if my girlfriend would agree – if she was here.

Renovation – back on track

30. August.

Now the roof is gone too, and all the good old isolation/dust/concrete that was hiding there. Me and my father was itching for about a week while doing that job – never again.

This weekend my girlfriend Henriette/Henna is visiting from Oslo to help me out, I guess we could have done a lot more if we did`nt go to that party on friday – but then again we would`nt had that much fun.
